NetCom Plus Serial Device Servers use a modern high performance RISC processor. They offer RS232/422/485 ports configurable by software or DIP-switch. Additionally to all features of the NetCom Lite they offer encryption of both data transfer and configuration over OpenVPN. This makes the NetCom Plus devices to real Secure Servers. Added to the standard Ethernet cable connection, NetCom Plus WLAN servers have a Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g/n connection. This helps to connect serial devices in environments where wiring is difficult, costly or even not possible. This Wireless LAN is protected by WPA and WPA2, plus OpenVPN may be used for added security. In addition to classic Ad-Hoc mode the WLAN also operates as Access Point. In this way they take care of Windows 7 and later versions, where the classic Ad-hoc mode has been removed from the operating system. The NetCom Plus devices with PoE may get power supply via the Ethernet cable. They use the IEEE 802.3af specifications and present as Class 0 powered devices.
On some occasions the NetCom Plus names are written as NetCom+ for brevity.
