Control of temperature, humidity, light, shock and drop height The Newsteo Tracker measures and records up to 6 months of transport. It includes the recording of temperature, humidity, light and shocks (on 3 axis) as well as free fall height. It also indicates the duration of the shock and its energy. 2 versions of the Newsteo Tracker are available: - TRK31: shock up to 6g, temperature, humidity, light and free fall height - TRK52: shock up to 16g, temperature and free fall height Functionning of the shock data logger Having configured and activated the Newsteo Tracker, just fix it in the container, truck, box... before it leaves. The Newsteo Tracker continuously measures various parameters and stores corresponding measures. Upon arrival, the measures are wirelessly downloaded on PC, through the package of the good. Functionning of the radio data transmission The Newsteo solution is made of 3 main parts : - The Newsteo Tracker: they are fixed it in the container, truck, box... before it leaves. The Newsteo Tracker continuously measures various parameters and stores corresponding measures. Upon arrival, the measures are wirelessly downloaded on PC, through the package of the good.
- The RF-to-USB key: it is the bridge between the PC and the Trackers
- The RF Monitor: this software is installed on the PC and allows the monitoring of the loggers:
Newsteo solutions are optimized to be easily integrated and to be efficient. This technology is built on several characteristics: The transmission operates on free ISM Band (868 MHz in Europe - 915 Mhz in USA). The ISM bands (industrial, scientific, and medical) are frequencies which can be used freely (free of charge and without authorization) for industrial, scientist and medical applications. The unlicensed ISM bands below 1GHz are widely used for various consumer and industrial applications where long range, system cost, and long battery life concerns are critical. Applications in these market segments are diverse and can include home automation, security, industrial control, remote sensing, automatic meter reading, toys, weather stations, among many other consumer applications. The ISM band frequencies enable to have a compact radio bridge with a high range: - In free space and with a ¼ wavelength antenna (i.e. only 8,6cm), the range is up to 800 m
- Radiofrequencies can go through out concrete walls
- The transmission is not disturbed by obstacles such as human bodies (this is the case for Wifi and Bluetooth technologies at 2,4 GHz)
- Interferences are rare because this frequency is only used for industrial, scientist and medical applications.
Due to excellent propagation characteristics at sub-GHz frequencies, greatly extended ranges can be obtained at much lower current consumptions than from to the 2.4GHz band solutions. In addition, these sub-GHz bands are free from microwave, WiFi and Bluetooth interference making links substantially more robust than their 2.4GHz counterpart solutions. The Newsteo communication protocol is : - Optimized to function with a limited power in order to have a portable solutions powered by simple lithium batteries
- Tough enough to endure industrial conditions
The loggers can be used in two different modes : - Monitoring (real time monitoring applications): the logger sends in real time its measures to the PC. If a measure is not received by the PC, it stores it inside its internal memory and sends it to the PC on the next communication channel
- Record / Restitution (a posteriori monitoring): the logger records in its embedded memory the measures it takes. The user can download on the PC all the stored measures when he wants.
With one Rf Monitor software and one RF-to-USB key, it is very easy to install and configure until 500 Newsteo loggers to make a network of wireless sensors.
